Yesterday, Jasmine was on the front page of Dogster!!   

She was included in an article about Dogs in Show Business!

(Although I wouldn't say we've "pawed our way to the top"!)  More like- we got a lucky break in 2008 when Jasmine, Jesse, and Mater won an online contest and got to be in a Mighty Dog Commercial, Photoshoot, and web-movie.  From there we got an agent.  From there we've just been networking and meeting really cool people who like Jasmine's trick videos- and more opportunities keep happening.... sometimes when I least expect it.

It's been an interesting journey!  I had no idea when I got this sweet little pup where this would all lead!  But now Jasmine's been on TV 24 different times doing her tricks.  And as long as she keeps enjoying it, we'll keep doing it.  Jasmine actually gets stir-crazy if she's cooped up in the house too long.  So no matter whether it's a professional gig or just volunteering at the children's hospital, Jaz just wants to keep doing her thing.  (and keep earning GOOD treats!)  (I did mention she was HIGHLY treat motivated, right?)  ;)

Basketball Dogs are going to be on Animal Planet!

YAY!!  Great news!

Our basketball video is going to be on Animal Planet!!  (Well, parts of it!)



They contacted me about using it for a show they are doing in December.  I emailed all the dog's owners that were a part of this video.  And they said they were willing to let Animal Planet use the footage.  (It's not a paid opportunity- but still fun!)

We used 21 different dogs from all over the world in this video.  (Jasmine is networked in with a lot of trick dogs through her Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter!)  So I'm not sure which dogs they will use.  (They'll probably just use a few.)  But either way, it's fun to be considered!  :)

I'll keep you posted as I learn more about it!  :)  

Dogs Play Basketball

You know how sometimes you get a great idea in your head... but then you don't have time to do anything about it? 

That's what happened to me!

Back in April... I had the idea to make a basketball movie- showcasing the talents of as many dogs as I could find.  Luckily, I'm pretty well plugged in with the trick dog world.  (Through Jasmine's Facebook, YouTube, and Twitter.)   And I found 21 dogs from around the world that knew how to play ball!!  :)   They all sent me clips, and then...... I got super busy and didn't do anything with them!

But recently, I got motivated to work on it again!   (Having Labor Day off from work totally helped!)  ;)   I spent the day editing together this video!   And- 4 months after I originally started- Voila!  The video is done!  I'm happy with it.   I love showing the different breeds- large, medium, and small.  As far as I'm aware, this is the 1st ever International Canine All-Star Basketball Team!!  :)   

I listed in the description where each dog was from.  Most are in the USA, but some are from Switzerland, Australia, and England!  I think it's so fun to watch!  :) 

And apparently other people agree.  Because I just uploaded this Monday afternoon, and as of Tuesday night, it already has 3,450 views!!  (That's just one day later!)   What can I say?  They're cute dogs!  
I think we're going to have to start our own Dream Team....  ;)

HAPPY LABOR DAY!

Labor Day for me is a paid holiday off from work- of which I spent 6 hours editing a dog trick video!!!

Back in April, I had the idea to put together a compilation video of Dogs Playing Basketball.

I am connected (through Facebook) to trick dogs all over the world, and I asked them to send me clips of their dogs playing basketball.  I received clips of 21 different dogs from all over the USA, Switzerland, England, Canada, and Australia.  And I intended to edit them all into one video.

But then Jaz and I flew to California to be on "Who Let The Dogs Out".  (A show on Animal Planet.)

Then in May, we flew to New York to be on "Good Morning America".

Then in June, we flew to Utah to speak at the "BlogPaws" convention.

And I can't even remember what happened in July and August!  (Not to mention, I'm busy with my regular job, friends, and family!)

So, long story short: this got put on the back burner!

But now- I'm rejunivated to attempt it again!  LOL.  

I'm excited because I'm ALMOST DONE!!  :D   (Now I can only hope I don't have trouble uploading it to YouTube!!)  ;)

So- in the meantime- here's a teaser to get you by until I finish the video:

World News with Diane Sawyer

Last night (Saturday, July 7th)  Jasmine had a brief cameo on "World News with Diane Sawyer"!   They were doing a segment on how pets keep cool in the summer...  and they found this video on YouTube.  (which I had just barely posted)





One of the producers contacted me through YouTube, and wrote this:

So I wrote back and said sure!  
The down side is.... I wasn't home last night so I didn't get to see it.  They wrote to me Saturday afternoon, and aired it on Saturday night, so I didn't even have time to ask someone to record it for me!  One of my friends told me she saw Jaz on it (towards the 2nd half of the segment), so I know her video was featured.


I've been searching to see if it's available online somewhere... but so far no luck.  Oh well.  
If any of you come across it, will you please let me know??  I'd still like to see it, even if it is just for a few seconds...

Sneaky Blanket Thief!

Jasmine is cute, but she's sneaky too!  So you'd better watch out during nap time!  ;)

Going to #BlogPaws!!! :)

Well, it's FINALLY HERE!  After looking forward to this for what feels like forever, BlogPaws has finally arrived!  I am SOOO excited to go to Utah and meet up with my friends from all over the country!  (and learn a lot too!)

This is going to be such a fun trip!!  Lauren and her trick dog Paige are coming too!  It's a Jasmine/Paige Reunion Tour!! :)  :)  :)   


We'll be giving the presentation on Friday afternoon about "The Power of YouTube".  (Since both of our dogs have very similar stories!  They're just regular dogs- who have had some amazing opportunities just because of some simple YouTube videos!)  


I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!  It's going to be a blast!!  I'll keep you posted!!  :)

I can't believe it's almost time for BlogPaws!!  And I had an extra ticket to give away!  We get one because we're a speaker.  (We're giving a presentation next Friday about "The Power of YouTube".)   But then earned a 2nd free one because Jasmine's video "Santa's Little Helper" was nominated for a "Best Video" award.  (If you remember the video from last December!)

So of course, I wanted to hear all about her 2 pups!

MEET MAX and JACK!

Max is our German Shepherd.  He will be 2 in October.  His full name for any who are curious is Maximus Vanhelsing (named after a famous gladiator and vampire hunter) :)  Max is very loving and even though he is huge always wants to sit in my lap.  He is very loved and a bit of a sissy, but becomes quite protective when strangers are around.  He is fun and cuddly and lets our three children cuddle with him constantly.

Jack is our Jack Rat (part Jack Russel and part Rat terrier).  He will be 4 in July.  He is named after our most favorite pirate Jack Sparrow - yup we love movies around here.  Jack is a bit tempermental and even though he is sweet I keep him away from small children just to be safe.  He kind of reminds me of a cat - he will sleep the afternoon away or can be found sunning himself in a sunny spot in the house.  Sometimes I can't find him and he will be curled up and sleeping under a blanket. 

I haven't really blogged about my dogs on my blog and am considering it since they are part of the family as well.

Phoenix Pet Expo

Before we went to NY for Good Morning America, Jaz entered a trick contest at the Phoenix Pet Expo!  
(I just have been so busy, I didn't have time to edit the video!!)   But I finally got around to it!  So , here are some of the highlights:



Heather and Jesse were there as the celebrity judges!   So I recorded their little trick demo too!


Jasmine also hung out at the AZ Animal Actors booth- showing some of her tricks.

After the trick show, we took some pics w/ Jesse and Jasmine.  Did they plan to both wear stripes for the occasion?  Nope!  Random coincidence!  

Tiff from Wind Wolf Photography was there, and she took some great photos of the pups!  (Way better than mine!)

 She got a good one of Jaz pushing her shopping cart too!  That's kind of her signature trick!

Jasmine's New Trick Resume!

Jasmine has a new trick video!! This is all the tricks she knows so far... as of March 2012. :)

But I'm always open to new suggestions! If you think of any new tricks I should teach Jaz, please let me know!! My friend just loaned me her son's old skateboard, so I'm excited to try that out!

Thirsty? Bring Me A Drink

Jaz has learned a new trick!! We've been working on this one for a little while now.

Jasmine can open the fridge and bring me a drink! Ok yes, it's a small juice box. But I tried it with a mini soda can, and a mini water bottle. She had a hard time gripping those with her teeth. She would bite down, and it would shoot across the room. So... we had to adapt! And find something more suited to her size! And here's the final result:

The good news is... I'm glad I don't own a big dog. If she was, and I taught her this trick... there would be no food left in my refrigerator when I got home from work!!! So I'm happy Jaz is a little dog! ;)
