Dog Thanksgiving

Ever wonder what dogs are thankful for?

I can imagine what Jasmine might be thankful for.
And I made a new video about it.

Besides, she already has a trick video for Halloween, Christmas, and Easter.  It seemed like we needed a Thanksgiving one to complete the set!  ;)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!  I am grateful for your friendship and support.

One MILLION views on YouTube!! Whoa!

I have some pretty exciting news!  One of Jasmine's dog trick videos just reached a MILLION VIEWS on YouTube!!!  Whoa!!  That's weird to think about!

I have had so many people from all over the world write to me on Jasmine's YouTube, Facebook, or Twitter account.  They told me how much they love Jasmine and how much her videos make them smile and laugh!

Who knew when I got that cute little puppy that she would end up with friends all over the world??
And more so, who would have ever thought that I would have been able to do everything I have accompanying her?  I personally have no desire to be on TV, and yet because of Jaz, I've ended up traveling all over the country as her chauffeur!

We were in New York performing live on Good Morning America.

We were in California- performing on Animal Planet's show "Who Let the Dog Out?"

We've done modeling photo shoots.

And been on the news and TV countless times, mainly here in the USA, but also as far away as  in Japan, Denmark and England!

We auditioned for David Letterman's Stupid Pet Tricks...

And for America's Got Talent (the current season, so I can't talk about it yet.)

It's been a wild, exciting adventure with this little dog!

Some of my favorite memories also involve being a therapy dog team.  We mainly visited a children's hospital on Fridays.  Because of HIPPA regulations, we weren't allowed to get pictures or video at the hospital, but Jasmine's picture hangs up in the hall there.

But she also made a few appearances at schools, libraries, and nursing homes.  (And have some cute videos to remember those visits by!)

It seriously blows my mind to think about this.  One little dog ended up completely changing the course of my life!  (and for the better.)

This all started when I created a YouTube channel showing Jasmine's dog tricks.  I did it so I could show my Grandma (who lived in Utah) all the fun tricks my dog had learned.  But apparently a few other people liked her dog tricks too!  ;)

Because here's her most popular video that just hit one million views:

The best thing about owning a canine celebrity is that they never let it go to their head!  ;)

America's Got Talent Audition- Jasmine's Dog Tricks

Today is a big day!!   Jasmine and I are auditioning for America's Got Talent!!  And I have signed a non-disclosure contract saying I can't talk about our audition or anything related to the show.  So I won't be able to tell you how it goes.  You'll just have to wait and watch Season 11 on TV to find out the answer!

I will tell you I'm pretty excited and nervous about it. I'm not in any way expecting to win it. I get so nervous on live TV, we'll probably end up on the blooper reel. But so what?? We can say we tried out for AGT. How many other people can say that? It'll be a cool experience. No matter how it ends.

And afterwards, I get to hang out with some of my other trick dog friends (and their people) wink emoticon (And that I will post pics of.) And I'm excited about that too.  It's nice to have friends around to give you moral support!

Dogs are the Ultimate Trick-or-Treaters!

It's my favorite time of year!   I always dress up for Halloween.  And so do my dogs!  Kids get so excited when they come to the door trick-or-treating and see Jaz dressed up!   Do you celebrate Halloween with your dogs?  Are they going to dress up this year?  What are they going to be?

I have WAY TOO MANY dog Halloween costumes, and I was trying to think of a way to use them all.  And I came up with the idea of making a doggy Halloween video!

It was actually pretty challenging considering that Jasmine is really the only well-trained dog in the bunch!  The rest of her friends can mostly just sit!  (and sometimes not sit and stay!!)   So we ended up with a lot of blooper footage!!  (Which I showed at the end of the movie!)

Here's a screenshot from Dogs Go Trick or Treating:

So, even though this took forever to make... it was totally worth it!   Enjoy!!

Just so you know- I didn't really let Jasmine eat the whole box of Milkbone treats at the end!!  But she did get quite a few!!  :D   #TreatsForAll

Help My Dog Meet The Muppets!

CONFESSION TIME:  I have been a lifelong fan of the Muppets.   My favorite is Kermit, because I can relate to him the most.

I am also a fan of Lindsey Sterling.  She found success through YouTube, so she's an inspiration to me!  (She's also from Arizona like me.)  And I knew about her before she got famous, so I kind of like that.

I have never been jealous of her success....  Until now... ;)

1) I love Lindsey Sterling's music.
2) I LOVE Josh Groban's voice.  I've been to one of his concerts.  He's amazing.
3) WHAT????  She got to perform with BOTH Josh Groban AND the Muppets??!?!   That's like my dream come true!!!   I have seriously LOVED the muppets for my whole life.  I can't believe that really happened for her!!

Now, I know I'll never perform with Josh Groban, seeing as how I have absolutely NO musical talent what-so-ever.  In fact, it reminds me of this muppets video clip:

I know "I don't got rhythm"...  but I do know that I've got an awesome dog that does some pretty cool tricks!

I started thinking about it...wondering if there was a way to make this a reality...

I know the Muppet Show is coming back this fall on ABC.  And I'm not sure if they're going to have shows with a lot of human interactions.  (Like they did on the the original Muppet Show.)

But if they do... wouldn't be awesome if Jasmine and Rowlf the Dog could do a skit together??   Since Jasmine knows a bunch of "human-like" dog tricks- such as pushing a shopping cart, getting the mail from the mailbox, getting a drink from the fridge, etc.

Maybe she could teach Rowlf to "act like a dog!"

Skit idea:  Perhaps Kermit could tell Rowlf he needs to reconnect with his roots- and find out what being a dog is really all about.  Then he could meet Jasmine, watch her do her human-like tricks, and in the end he'll realize he's just fine the way he is!  Because there are other dogs out there that act like humans.  (and Kermit can say "Sheesh!" just like he did in the old Muppet show!)

I know this is just me wildly day-dreaming.  But I'm still going to tweet and email ABC/ Disney to see if there is the slightest possibility this could happen.  And if there's anything I've learned from all my years of being a Jim Henson fan, it's to never give up on your dreams. And to work hard to make them a reality.   So... I'm going to try it.  If you, my friends, are willing to help me...  will you please forward this blogpost to:

Or to whoever else you can think of that might help make this dream come true??  Might as well try!!

Cute Animal Videos- Project Pet!

Jasmine was on TV in Canada all month long!

Her tricks were featured through-out the month of February on "Project Pet!".  (Cute little animal videos that they found on YouTube.)   These were shown on the Family Channel.   My friend Sara lives in Canada and was able to get us the clips!  (Which I'm so thankful for, otherwise I never would have seen them!)

Here's a compilation of Jasmine's first TV appearance in Canada!   :)

Jaz was on TV in Canada!

I have fun news!   Over this past weekend, Jasmine's tricks were on TV in Canada!   They were shown on the Family channel- on "Project Pet".  This is Jasmine's version of Ring the Bell (on the desk) and Roll Up in a Blanket.  (a.k.a. Steal it from your human!)  ;)   They'll be showing other tricks through-out the month, so if you live in Canada, be sure to keep an eye out for my favorite pup Jasmine!   :)

(and a BIG THANK YOU to our friend Sara for getting us this clip!!)   :)

Jasmine is getting famous in Norway!

Ta Da!  My friend Stacy found the link to the Norwegian newspaper article with Jasmine in it!!

Here it is!

If some of you actually can read that, please let me know what it says!!

I looked it up on Google Translate, and it said:

"The dog "Jasmine" became world famous after this video : Havaneseren, Jasmine, tours the world with their human-like tricks for their participation in this youtube hit a video. Photo: MyFavoritePupJasmine""

So... that's more or less what it says!   Pretty cool!!  :)  :)  :

Petsmart model!!

How cool is this??   Jasmine's picture is on Petsmart's website right now modeling a Halloween outfit!  :)     http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=20225506&lmdn=Dog+Clothes&f=PAD%2FpsNotAvailInUS%2FNo

We did this photo shoot with Petsmart just over a month ago (You can read about it here:  http://www.myfavoritepup.blogspot.com/2013/07/jasmines-fashion-photoshoot.html )
but I honestly forgot about it until a friend told me she saw a picture of Jasmine!  Usually these things take longer to come out!  So this came as a fun surprise to me!   Jaz modeled several outfits that day, so there may be more fun surprises coming later!

Dog Goes Shopping Anniversary

So... if you know Jasmine at all.... chances are you have seen this video:   (Dog Goes Shopping)

This was my first attempt at making a skit/ video.  I was just learning how to edit videos.  I didn't have an HD camera at the time.  It was just my friend and I making a silly little video.

And yet... this is the video that Jasmine is most well-known for.  This video has been on TV all over the world...   and this video is the reason Jasmine has as many friends as she does.

This is what started it all.  And we're coming up on the 3rd anniversary of me posting the "Dog Goes Shopping" video.   It's kind of crazy to me how much has happened in the last 3 years!!

It's kind of mind-boggling to think that people all over the world know about my little dog.  (and love her.)

If you've been following my blog, you know that recently there have been quite a few people stealing Jasmine's trick videos and taking credit for making them.  And one person even said Jasmine was their dog and that they trained her!   Although this is kind of annoying, and I now I have taken appropriate measures to deal with the copyright infringement... I still don't get too worked up over this.  Because at the end of the day... I have the real deal.  I have the furry little sweetheart lying at the foot of my bed wanting a belly rub.

When I rewatch this "Dog Goes Shopping" video, I can't help but smile.  Jaz is just so funny.  It's her expressions.  Her eagerness to do tricks.  (For example... make sure you watch to the very end of the video to see the extra scene after the credits.)   That's my favorite part!!  Her expression after I say "Why is my credit card bill so high?" is priceless!!

I have so many kids asking me... does Jasmine REALLY sneak out to go shopping??  Lol.  I tell them that this video was made by me editing a bunch of tricks together.  However, Jaz is so smart... I wouldn't put it past her!!!  So... maybe!!  ;)

Here's a couple of screenshots I was able to get of her different appearances:

She's been on TV in Germany, England, Sweden, Denmark.

England

Japan

America (Animal Planet)

America (12 News)

And this video has been featured on websites all over the world:  Croatia, Iceland, Spain, Greece, England, Scotland, Finland..... and probably more that I don't even know about!  These are only the ones I could find...

My favorite thing to tell people is.... "The best thing about owning a canine celebrity... is that they never let it go to their head."  :)    Jaz is still the same sweet dog she's always been.   :)  So... "fame" doesnt really mean much to me or her.  It doesn't change anything.  (at least for me.)   I'm glad more people get the chance to smile and laugh because of my silly dog.  But even if none of this stuff had ever happened, I would love her just the same.

Copycats! (Copyright infringement)

Well, it's been said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

You know how Jasmine's "45 Cute Dog Tricks" video is big right now?   Well... so far I've found 3 people that have re-uploaded it as their own work.

I'm kind of torn.  On one hand, I feel like that's more publicity for Jasmine... her videos would reach a wider audience.  However, on the other hand, I don't really like people stealing my videos and uploading them as theirs either.   So... ???  I don't know what I should do.  2 of the 3 copycats seem like just individuals doing it because they think Jasmine is cute.  The first one listed seems like a company though. (BreakTV)  So I might report them for copyright infingement.  It kind of bugs me that they don't even list Jasmine's name either.  All through all of the tags, they always call her Jesse the Jack Russell Terrier.   Now don't get me wrong...  we love Jesse!  We're actually friends with them.  (Heather and Jesse)   However, the video is obviously of Jasmine.  Jasmine and Jesse don't even look alike.  (They're just doing that to draw more traffic to their video.)   So... that's the only one I'm considering reporting.

I don't know... what do you guys think I should do?   Here's the copycats:

One is by:

BreakTV:  Cute Dog Tricks_ Amazing 45 Tricks

One is by:

Funny Animals:  "Dog Performs 45 Cute Tricks"

One is by:

They've changed the front picture, but the video is exactly the same....

What would you do?

Jaz was on the Front Page of YouTube!!

So... I'm out of the loop.  I went camping for a few days, and didn't have internet access.

But someone told me that Jasmine's "45 Cute Dog Tricks" video was on the front page of YouTube yesterday!

(Which explains why I came home to a ton of emails of YouTube comments- and why the view count jumped WAY UP!)

Pretty cool!  I wish I was around to get a screen capture of her on the front page of YouTube!  Oh well.  Kind of random, but fun!!  I made this video 2 months ago, but for whatever reason, YouTube decided yesterday to feature it.  (As you can tell from the graph above!) It goes from basically a few hundred views to over 30,000 views in one day! LOL...

Even better- we just got an email from a big national TV show asking about the possibility of them showing Jasmine's video!   I gave them permission.  But I try not to get too excited, because I get contacted many times, but only some of them actually happen.  So I try to not count my chickens before they're hatched.  They said they would contact me if/when they decide to use it.
So... it's not a sure thing.  But keep your fingers/ paws crossed.  You never know!  :D

Call-backs for a commercial! :D

Wow- what a weekend!

Last Friday, I got a phone call from a friend (who is a human talent agent) asking if she could submit Jasmine for a Green Giant audition in LA. I said- sure, why not?   Little did I know, later that evening, she would write me saying that Jasmine went straight to call-backs!  (Which means they want to see us in person.) She wanted to know if we wanted to go LA for the call-back, even though it was super last minute.

I debated if I should go for a while.  It's a long drive for such a slim chance.  But I still kinda wanted to do it anyway...  just even to take that chance.  (and to have the opportunity to have Jasmine perform in front of casting directors.)   So after consulting with friends and family, I figured why not.  :)   I have family that lives out in California, so I could stop in and see them briefly before going to the audition...
Um... Jasmine?  Where am I supposed to sit??
It was about a 7 hour drive to LA.
Jaz is wondering why I won't play with her?!?
Maybe because it was past midnight by the time we got to the hotel!

Jaz- the next morning... wondering why on earth we were getting up so early??

Jasmine looking out the hotel room- checking out LA.
Our call-back time wasn't until 2:30 pm, so we had some time to kill.  I met up with some family members for lunch in downtown LA!  Then we took some pictures (which was good practice for our audition!)   Jaz was sure being a cutie.  :)
Jasmine can be a little TOO friendly!  I went inside the hotel restroom to wash my hands, and Jaz stuck her head until the stall door to say hi to someone!!  (I came back later to take this pic!)
Jasmine - waiting for our turn to audition.  She was PERFECT!!!!  We sat in a small room with other people until it was our turn.  They try to get through all the auditions pretty quickly, so I knew we wouldn't have much set-up time.  When it was our turn, some people helped me get our props into the room.  There were about 8 people sitting on an L-shaped couch.  There was a coffee table with snack foods on it.  And there was a man behind a professional video camera.

A guy named Adam was being a mock reporter, and "interviewed" us.  He said "I hear you have an unusual dog here."  I said, "Yes, this is Jasmine.  She's pretty talented."  Then I showed 4 of her tricks, and he made funny little commentaries about it. She pushed the shopping cart (which was on business-style carpet, so it wasn't super fast, but you got the idea.)  Then we did the mailbox trick. (Bringing me the mail.)  Adam quipped "So does she rip up the junk mail?"  Then the suitcase trick (opening, then hiding in the suitcase until I say okay.)  Adam quipped "I see you've found a way to save on baggage fees!"  Then finally we did the Basketball trick.  (Making a slam dunk with the basketball.)  Adam commented, "Looks like you should start your own NBA team!"  It was nice having him making the small talk, because then I could just focus on the tricks!

For every single trick, Jasmine was SPOT ON.  I was SO PROUD of her.  Sometimes she'll look at me, and the basketball will go to the side of the rim.  Or she'll fumble trying to open the lid of the suitcase.  Or she'll try to bring me the mail, but drop it before I grab it.  But not this time.  She did EVERY SINGLE TRICK PERFECT!!   I finished our routine, and said thank you, and was back out in the hall.  What a whirlwind.  But it was fun!

It was nice having my family around to distract me before the audition.  And so I really didn't start getting nervous until about 2 hours before the audition.  I texted my friend Lauren (who has the trick dog Paige.)  She told me "Don't be nervous!  Be yourself!  You can do this!  Just do what you do best and remember... WE LIKE DOING THIS!!"   LOL

That was hilarious to me- because that's exactly what I had told her the week before when Lauren had told me that she was nervous about Paige performing on a talk show!  Now here she was telling me the exact same thing I told her.  LOL.  It was what I neeed to hear.  I wasn't too nervous after that.  I really do like performing with Jasmine.  (Jasmine LOVES doing tricks.)  It's me who has to remember not to get nervous.  (Especially for auditions and live TV appearances.)  I love doing commercials and TV spots, because you can always redo anything that doesn't go perfect.  (and in fact, sometimes you redo shots that seem like they were perfect!)  So that's more my comfort zone!!

After the audition, we headed straight for home.  Jaz was one tired baby on the drive home.  She just slept in my arms almost the whole way...  So we left on Sunday, and came back on Monday.  Yikes.  Crazy whirlwind trip.

But all in all, it couldn't have gone any better.  If they don't end up picking Jaz, that's okay.  It was a good experience overall.  And like I said, Jaz did everything perfect.  So they'll either want to use her or they won't.   But I won't have any regrets.  She was awesome.  :)

Meet Jasmine! (in the 202 Magazine!)

This month (Feb) Jasmine has an article in the 202 magazine!   I scanned it, so hopefully you'll be able to read the words if you click on the picture!

They asked me what Jasmine's best trick was.  (How do you pick?)
What her favorite local hang-out was.  (Going with me to get take-out at Joe's BBQ)
What her favorite food was.  (Natural Balance)
And then, they wanted to know about her life.
So I told them about everything we've been up to in the last year!

2012 was quite the busy year for us!
We traveled to both sides of the country, and made quite a few TV appearances!
(The big ones being:  Who Let The Dogs Out, Good Morning America,
and Anderson Cooper!)
Then I talked a little bit about our work as a volunteer therapy dog.
It was definitely a busy fun-filled year, and I can't wait to see what the future holds in 2013!  :)
