Filming for a TV show!

Today Jasmine filmed a small part for a TV show.

Our call time was at 11:00 am on Sat. Jan. 12th.  When I arrived at the set, they were still filming a kid's part.  So we waited and talked to the actor that would be playing Jasmine's owner.  His name was Bob.  A lot of being on set is just standing around, waiting for your turn.

Originally, the script called for an elderly man to be walking a dog on a leash.  Then they hear a loud noise (like a sonic boom).  The old guy was supposed to adjust his hearing aid, while Jaz covered her ears/face.   (The trick I call "Cover Your Eye".)
That was the original script, so that's what we practiced.

But then they decided to shoot the scene on a park bench.  I had never tried having Jaz "cover her eye" with someone holding her before.  At first Bob held Jaz with his hand on her chest, so Jaz couldn't do what she needed to do.  I moved the guy's hand so he held her behind her front legs.  And that worked better.  It took me a few tries to convince Jaz to "cover her eye" while being on this guy's lap.
(She's never done a trick with a stranger holding her before.  She kept looking back at his hand.... like she was trying to tell me... "um... how am I supposed to do a trick when he's touching me??") But in the end, her treat addiction won out.  Jaz did the move she was supposed to do.  And it was all good.  :)   They got several takes of her "covering her eye" and the old guy petting her.  Our part probably took about 30 minutes to shoot.

Then it was done.  "That's a wrap, folks!"  I stayed around to watch the next scene being filmed.  It's kind of interesting.  And kind of boring at the same time.  It's just filming the same thing over and over and over.  Bob told me he was going to write a book about his work as an extra.  It's going to be called "That was perfect!  Now let's do it again!"  Sounds pretty familiar!!!  :D

Right before we filmed our part, I asked Jaz "Do you want a treat?" to get her attention.  After it was all done, I said "Good Girl!" and rewarded her.  The actor (Bob) looked at me and asked "Do I get a treat?"  ;)  I offered him a liver treat, but he declined.

Jasmine was being filmed for a small part on a kid's TV show called "The Aquabats Super Show".  They said this episode should air in about 6-8 months.  (Keep in mind Jasmine's part is probably only about 5 seconds long!!)   But I'll still keep you posted when it's going to be on TV.   Watch for updates on Jasmine's Facebook page.  :)

Jasmine's latest photoshoot- Car Seat Covers!

So... Fun News!

Jaz did a product photoshoot for Petsmart!

Sometime in the Spring-Summer of 2013, keep an eye out for some cream colored car seat covers with Jasmine's picture on the package!

I didn't get any photos behind-the-scenes during the shoot because I was too busy being the trainer.

I think I need to get an assistant to come with me so THEY can take the behind-the-scene pics!

For the photoshoot, we traveled about a 1/2 hour to a small photography studio.  The company literally had somehow gotten a white SUV inside this small room.  Jaz was sitting on the passenger side seat (the door was open, with the window rolled down).

The photographer was taking pictures through the window, and I was standing behind her holding treats over her head.  You get pretty cozy at these things!   I spent my time holding up turkey and telling Jaz: "Look, Look.  Staaaay.  Good Girrrrrlllll."   It's a hard job, but somebody's got to do it.    ;)

Jaz did super good!  I was expecting to be there an hour for the shoot, but we were done in about 20 minutes.  That included repositioning for multiple poses and breaks to change stuff about the car.   So... piece of cake!

I'll let you know when it comes out.  (Or someone let me know if you see Jasmine's picture on a package of car seat covers!!)

Since I didn't have any behind-the-scenes pics, I just included pics from other photoshoots that Jasmine has done.   I think they're cute.
(But I know I'm kind of biased!!)  ;)

And the #BlogPaws Winner Is.....

I can't believe it's almost time for BlogPaws!!  And I had an extra ticket to give away!  We get one because we're a speaker.  (We're giving a presentation next Friday about "The Power of YouTube".)   But then earned a 2nd free one because Jasmine's video "Santa's Little Helperwas nominated for a "Best Video" award.  (If you remember the video from last December!)

If you have just stumbled across our blog, and have no idea who "My Favorite Pup Jasmine" is or that we make YouTube videos...
Here's a little sneak peak at our history...

So... back to the exciting part!   Last week, we had a raffle to help pick the winner of the FREE ticket to BlogPaws.

And the winner is....
SUMMER!!
Summer has a blog about crafts, recipes, and life.
Check it out!  http://summerscraps.blogspot.com/

She also has 3 kids and 2 dogs who keep her busy!

When I wrote to Summer to tell her she had won, she wrote back:

"CJ I am so excited!!!!  Some of my friends are going to blogpaws but I wasn't going to be able to go because it wasn't it my budget.  That is so awesome that I was able to win the conference pass!!!

Jasmine is such a cute dog and my kids just love her tricks.  I am so excited to be going to BlogPaws!  Thanks so much!!!!"

If you don't know, kids and dogs are my two favorite things ever!

So of course, I wanted to hear all about her 2 pups!

MEET MAX and JACK!

Max is our German Shepherd.  He will be 2 in October.  His full name for any who are curious is Maximus Vanhelsing (named after a famous gladiator and vampire hunter) :)  Max is very loving and even though he is huge always wants to sit in my lap.  He is very loved and a bit of a sissy, but becomes quite protective when strangers are around.  He is fun and cuddly and lets our three children cuddle with him constantly.

Jack is our Jack Rat (part Jack Russel and part Rat terrier).  He will be 4 in July.  He is named after our most favorite pirate Jack Sparrow - yup we love movies around here.  Jack is a bit tempermental and even though he is sweet I keep him away from small children just to be safe.  He kind of reminds me of a cat - he will sleep the afternoon away or can be found sunning himself in a sunny spot in the house.  Sometimes I can't find him and he will be curled up and sleeping under a blanket.

I haven't really blogged about my dogs on my blog and am considering it since they are part of the family as well.

I can't wait to meet you Summer!!   CONGRATULATIONS!!!  See ya at BlogPaws!!!   :)

Sat. April 21st! Jaz is on #WhoLetTheDogsOut!

It's almost here!!  THIS Saturday, April 21st will be Jasmine's big TV appearance!

I can't believe she's going to be on national TV twice this month!  April 10th was a big day- her dog tricks video was shown on the Anderson Cooper show!!  (If you missed it, click HERE to watch it!)  I was so thrilled!

AND NOW... this coming Saturday, she'll get to be on the season finale of "Who Let The Dogs Out" on Animal Planet!!  They actually flew us to Universal Studios last month to film this.  And I've had to keep the results a secret for a WHOLE MONTH!  But now, after Saturday, I can FINALLY talk about it!!!  :D

Needless to say, we had a BLAST!  We met so many talented dogs, and wonderful people.  I wish it didn't have to end!

Here's a preview of Saturday's show!

If it looks like Jaz is running with her shopping cart at the end, that's because she is!  The ground was a little slanted at Universal Studios.  (Which worked out great for the skateboarding dogs, they went really fast!)  But it was a little more complicated for the shopping dog!

If you missed the 3rd episode, that was when they invited us out to California to perform live at the finale.  Here's that video:

So... yeah... 3 more days until the finale!!!   What an incredible experience!  Probably one of highlight's of our lives.  :)     I can't wait to tell you all about it.  (after Saturday.)  ;)
