Today Jasmine filmed a small part for a TV show.
Our call time was at 11:00 am on Sat. Jan. 12th. When I arrived at the set, they were still filming a kid's part. So we waited and talked to the actor that would be playing Jasmine's owner. His name was Bob. A lot of being on set is just standing around, waiting for your turn.
Originally, the script called for an elderly man to be walking a dog on a leash. Then they hear a loud noise (like a sonic boom). The old guy was supposed to adjust his hearing aid, while Jaz covered her ears/face. (The trick I call "Cover Your Eye".)
That was the original script, so that's what we practiced.
But then they decided to shoot the scene on a park bench. I had never tried having Jaz "cover her eye" with someone holding her before. At first Bob held Jaz with his hand on her chest, so Jaz couldn't do what she needed to do. I moved the guy's hand so he held her behind her front legs. And that worked better. It took me a few tries to convince Jaz to "cover her eye" while being on this guy's lap.
(She's never done a trick with a stranger holding her before. She kept looking back at his hand.... like she was trying to tell me... "um... how am I supposed to do a trick when he's touching me??") But in the end, her treat addiction won out. Jaz did the move she was supposed to do. And it was all good. :) They got several takes of her "covering her eye" and the old guy petting her. Our part probably took about 30 minutes to shoot.
Then it was done. "That's a wrap, folks!" I stayed around to watch the next scene being filmed. It's kind of interesting. And kind of boring at the same time. It's just filming the same thing over and over and over. Bob told me he was going to write a book about his work as an extra. It's going to be called "That was perfect! Now let's do it again!" Sounds pretty familiar!!! :D
Right before we filmed our part, I asked Jaz "Do you want a treat?" to get her attention. After it was all done, I said "Good Girl!" and rewarded her. The actor (Bob) looked at me and asked "Do I get a treat?" ;) I offered him a liver treat, but he declined.
Jasmine was being filmed for a small part on a kid's TV show called "The Aquabats Super Show". They said this episode should air in about 6-8 months. (Keep in mind Jasmine's part is probably only about 5 seconds long!!) But I'll still keep you posted when it's going to be on TV. Watch for updates on
Jasmine's Facebook page. :)
