Trick Dog/ Therapy Dog Visits the 3rd Grade

Last month, Jasmine and I went back to school!  Well... to visit the 3rd grade classes at an elementary school!  We had SO MUCH FUN!  (as you can tell from the video.) 
 First, I talked about what we do as a therapy dog team.  Then we had time for some Q & A.  Then finally- their favorite part- the trick show.  :)   
 You can just tell from the excitement in the kids' voices that they loved it!  Jasmine picks up on that energy and is eager to show off more tricks.  It's really fun!  No matter which trick we did, the kids just got a big kick out of it.  I just love their enthusiasm.   This is the same school that we visited last year too.  (Just a whole new set of 3rd Graders.)  :)   3rd Graders are the best!!

HA! Ugly sweaters at Petco!!

HAHA!

OK- you know those "Ugly Sweater" Christmas parties people have?  Well now the dogs can be invited to particpate too!!  I don't know if you've heard of these, but I've been to a few.  They're funny.
The object is to come in the most extremely decorated sweater you can find!

So when I saw these sweaters at Petco, I was cracking up.  I wasn't sure they were supposed to be "ugly sweaters"... they aren't that bad!  But it kind of reminded me of them!  I didn't want to insult anyone, so I even asked the Petco rep if they were intended to be this way.  She assured me that yes, these so that our pets can be included in the "ugly sweater" parties.  ;)   (For example- I think this red sweater would be fine if you took off the white pom pom's!  Then it would be a cute sweater.)  But... for the purpose of accompanying me to a party, this works great.  :)

Check out this one I got for Jaz!  LOL.  (and of course, she had to have reindeer antlers!)  LOL.  (And yes, she did get a treat for modeling for this picture!)

If you have a Page-A-Day dog calendar, then tomorrow Saturday Nov. 17th is Jasmine Day!!  :)

That's a reason to celebrate, right?  ;)   Like we need a reason.  Jasmine's motto is:  Live life with enthusiasm!!

Jasmine, the Therapy Dog, Visits the 3rd Grade!

I'm a little behind on writing about life on my blog!

But on Oct. 5th- Jasmine and I went to an elementary school to talk to the kids!

This was so fun.  We did this last year too.  




All the 3rd graders just finished reading the book "Rosie the Visiting Dog".... about a therapy dog who looks similar to Jasmine.

The teacher asked if Jasmine and I could come to the school so the children can meet a therapy dog in real life!  

We talked about our experiences at hospitals and retirement centers, and what exactly a therapy dog does  And why we like to volunteer there.


After a long period of question and answers, we did a little trick demo.  (Very similar to what we do at the children's hospital.)   



They just loved it!!

Then Jasmine found a volunteer to demonstrate her "Cowboy Trick".   


We did a trick show for about 20 minutes, I just wasn't able to get many pics.

All in all, a very fun day hanging out with the 3rd Graders!!  :)  



Hopefully, these 3rd graders will remember the story they read a little better because of meeting my favorite pup Jasmine!

#BarkWorld HOWL-O-Ween Party!!

I think Halloween is SO FUN!   And this year, I get to spend it at the BarkWorld Expo in Atlanta, GA!

Tonight, they had a HOWL-o-ween party- hosted by my friend Rick Rockhill (who is awesome!)   He's here representing Natural Balance Pet Foods.

It was so fun.  (and yes, the song "Thriller" is still stuck in my head!!)

OK - first of all- Rick and I TOTALLY did NOT plan this!  But we both came dressed in matching pirate costumes!!!  LOL.  What can I say?  Great minds think alike!!!  ;)

There were so many great costumes!!!  We all entered a costume contest.  The winner was the guy who was dressed like a fisherman!  (and his bulldog Pudgie was the fish).  It was adorable!

So- that was our fun-filled night!  After it was over, I took Jasmine on her walk outside.  It dawned on me that I was dressed up as a pirate walking down the streets of Atlanta.  LOL.  Only at BarkWorld.  ;)

#BarkWorld, ready or not, here we come!

I can't believe it's only one more day until we leave for BarkWorld!!!  (This is a little teaser video I made of our trip last year!)

I was so thrilled when I found out Natural Balance and Petco were sponsoring Jasmine's trip out to Atlanta for BarkWorld 2012!!   

We attended last year, and had a blast!!   Last year, we gave a presentation on "How To Make Your Dog A YouTube Rockstar" along with our best friends Lauren and Paige.  Sadly, our partners-in-crime can't be there this year because of work obligations.   But NEXT year 2013- we'll have our reunion!!  :)

 This year, we get to just enjoy the conference!!  (I'm sure I'll remember so much more when I'm not worried about giving a presentation!)  LOL  

This year, I'm going to try to keep updating my blog/Facebook/Twitter a little better than last year.  (I kind of know what to expect this year!)
