DIY Dog Bed!

I got this post from 2 Dog Trail Positive Dog Training on Facebook!   Such a great idea!!

DIY dog bed! You will need: an old sweatshirt, bed pillow, polyfill or other stuffing, one lucky dog.
1. stuff sleeves and shoulder/collar area of sweatshirt (you might need to put in a few stitches to create a "pocket" in the body of the shirt.)
2. insert pillow through bottom of shirt.
3. stitch end of sleeves together
4. attach pillow "ring" to bed bottom with a few stitches. Enjoy!

I think this is brilliant.  1)  It reuses/ recycles an old sweatshirt.  2)  Jaz already sleeps on my laundry pile anyway, so I think she'd love it.   (Since it has my scent on it!)

I 'pin' a lot of cute/creative ideas on Jasmine's Pinterest.  But this one I think I'll actually try!!!  ;)

  1. Hey,
I just hopped over to your site via Stumbleupon. Not somthing I would normally read, but I liked your thoughts none the less. Thanks for making something worth reading.

  2. Since we sell dog beds I can't retweet :) but it does look cute. Let us know how it works out. ~Lyvonne

  3. Wow! I am so gonna make one of these for Nevada and my other pooches. Great idea. Thanks for the tip :)

  4. This is great. Anyway of doing one for a large dog? Great Dane large! Thanks

    1. We have one, too, so didn't think we would be able to find a sweat shirt large enough. Thinking about what I might be able to do to convert my old, tattered horse blankets for her though!

    2. For a larger bed, use 2 sweatshirts. Fill them, position botoom to bottom, cuffs of one shirt to other, and sew

  5. What a great idea... thanks for sharing it! Personally, I've done one like this one: http://www.canadathestore.com/products/buttercup-graphite-lattice-dog-bed, but I will try this one too! Really great and I'm sure that my dog will love it!

  6. We make no sew fleece tie lap blankets why not stuff it for a large dog used bed pillows, could be almost anything, old clothes, rags, torn newspaper and more.

  7. Many Thanks this is a wonderful idea.Opp shops area great place to find old jumpers and my cat loves this comfy place to cuddle up and sleep..Ginger Rogers Australia...

  8. I never thought that making a dog bed is just as easy as this one! I’ve been planning to give my dog her own bed, but still inside my bedroom. I hope I can make one myself or I’ll end up buying one.
